Our service for James Thompson Feb. 26, 2022 was on point, everything and more we had expressed was carried out, gave suggestion that worked it out smoothly with our views went well, even a problem appeared they were right there to resolve it. They found the right size place for the service with ample space and some. Look around the support of the family staff was Great, at eye sight they responded quickly. They help find a pastor which was great. Our fathers celebration of his live was on point, I wouldn’t change a thing about it, even with the covid issues of gathering of people the church was very large enough and still had space. We would like to express our extreme gratitude for such a wonderful experience during a most difficult time. During this time sometimes people feel as though they don’t even really know where to start, while dealing with the Gatling family they literally held our hand through the entire process. Everything concerning the loss of our loved one was not average or normal, but the Gatlings knew what was needed and state regulations and made the process so easy for our family. Unfortunately We have experienced Quite a bit of loss in our lifetime. However dealing with Minister Gatling, Dina, and family made things so much easier to handle. My brother Michael Wayne Sommerville made his transition on Saturday 8/1/2020. At 8:25pm I received a text from Mr. Lafayette Gatling “ Your brother is with us now. We will take care of him.” Already stressed from my brother’s passing, I felt a huge sigh of relief that he was not alone, since I could not be there with him. Subsequently, Mr. Lafayette and Ms. Dina kept in daily contact with me. During arrangements they recommended services at Abounding In Christ Love Ministries, Dolton, Illinois, which was a perfect location for me as well as family. In addition, I was referred to Ms. Davis, Distinctive Printing, where I ordered Panel Cards at a very affordable cost. Ms. Davis was very patient with me because I kept changing verbage, taking away and/or adding on. But we got through it. In addition, I was upset because someone at the nursing home had cut Michael’s hair, moustache and beard. Mr. Lafayette assured me he would take care of it, and he did. He restored the moustache and beard like it had never been cut. I and my family were very pleased that Mr. Lafayette restored Michael’s dignity. During the service Mr. Lafayette adhered to COVID rules re wearing masks and social distancing. My family and I were well pleased and will definitely refer Gatling and Sons Funeral Services to others. Mr. Lafayette and Ms. Dina are a powerhouse of understanding the basic human need of compassion for bereaved families. I made multiple calls with questions and concerns and they both treated me with respect, extending great patient with me. On a scale of 1 - 10, I give Mr. Lafayette and Ms. Dina a 20. Gatling and Sons Funeral Services has maintained an impeccable reputation with my family. Their attention to details is commendable. Lafayette Jr., Dina, Donovan and the entire staff were patient, professional, kind, compassionate and accommodating. Words don't do justice to the personal and professional services rendered. Gatling and Sons made a difficult time stress and worry free. The Gatlings were there from the first call until after the burial. Their support and compassion are like nothing you could imagine, they tailor the services to your desires not imposing "what should be done or their recommendations." Never in million years did I think I would lose a loved one, much less my brother. It was sudden and completely not planned. Nonetheless, Gatling and Son’s was my first call, hands down with no hesitation. They came out the very same day, started the arrangements and got everything handled for my family within a week. The service was fast, but was put together with so much respect, dignity and love. They were there for every little and big issue that came up, even for issues that had nothing to do with them. They helped us out with so many things, from floral, to the printing of obituaries from beginning to end. They even went above and beyond with comforting my mother with a blanket of my brother and was able to acknowledge all her needs throughout her grievance no matter what those needs were. Gatling and Son’s Funeral Service works by their motto; Family First, which is how I felt. They made us feel like family. They allowed us the same respect and integrity as if we were one of their very own. All I want to say is thank you to the Gatlings, especially Dina and Dominic Gatling.
