Lafayette Gatling Jr. Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, President

As President, he is involved in all aspects of the daily operations. He grew up in the Chicagoland area and graduated from Thornton Township High School in Harvey, IL. He went on to receive his Associates degree as an Electrical Engineer at Illinois Technical College. While working in the Funeral Industry, he went to Worsham Mortuary College and graduated with a degree in Funeral Directing and Embalming. He has been a licensed Funeral Director/ Embalmer for over 30 years. Lafayette is very active in his community serving on the board of his HOA . He’s considered a leader in his community with a deep compassion for helping others. Lafayette and his wife are Board Members of the GJT Foundation because of their passion to help the youth of their community. Lafayette and his wife Dina are joined by their three Sons and Daughter in law in the business. His son, Lafayette III has graduated from Worsham and sons Dominic and Donovan plan to attend in the near future.

Dina Marie Gatling Vice-President

As Vice-President, Dina is involved with the day to day management of the company. She grew up in the Chicagoland area and graduated from Thornton Township High School where she met her husband of 35 years Lafayette Gatling Jr and now have three sons, one daughter in law and three granddaughter. She received her BA at Governor’s State University in Small Business Administration and a Minor in Marketing. Dina worked as a District Sales Manager for 22 years before launching her own Catering business in 2017, Dina Marie’s Catering. She Co-founded the Ciara Alexandria Gatling Memorial Scholarship along with her husband to cope with the death of their only daughter by giving back to youth. She is very active in her community and her church . Dedicated to serving others, she looks forward to offering comfort to families in the Chicago land area.

Lafayette Gatling III Funeral Director Apprentice

Lafayette III grew up in the Chicagoland area and graduated from Brooks College Prep Academy High School. He would then go on to receive a full academic scholarship to NCSU (2009-2013) by receiving the land-based grant “Gatling Scholarship”. During his break from scholastics, he married the love of his life Carletta Monet to this union they welcomed their daughter. While working in the industry, he went on to achieve his Associates in Funeral Directing and Embalming from no other than Worsham Mortuary College in 2017. Currently he has begun graduate school pursuing his MBA from Concordia University hoping to finish soon. Amongst all of this, he has still managed to obtain over 10 years of part-time and full-time experience in the funeral industry.

Dominic Issac Lee Gatling Funeral Director Assistant

Graduated from a pristine University in South Bend, Indiana with a B.A in Psychology in pursuit to obtain his M.A in Industrial/Organization Psychology. He worked in the Funeral industry as a Funeral Director’s Assistant for 7 years. Under that position he prepared, carried out and lead funeral services for families in the Chicago area. Dominic’s leadership and compassion were seen and appreciated not only amongst his coworkers, but the families that entrusted their love one’s care in his hands.

Donovan Angelo Gatling Funeral Director Assistant

A bright, humble intellectual with a BA in Environmental Science and a minor in Africana Studies. He has a passion for science and the nature of people that live in our world. Our environment is important and so are the people that live in it. Donovan’s goal is to help those in need to the best of his ability. With 8 years of funeral service experience, he is devoted to the needs of those dealing with a loss of a love one. Considered empathic by others, he lives by his favorite quote, “Treat others how you would want to be treated.”

Carletta is originally from Winston-Salem, NC.  She attended undergrad at North Carolina State University where she received her degree in Sociology in 2013.  North Carolina State is also where she met the love of her life, Lafayette III. Carletta has always had a desire to help others and works in the aging field of social services.  Carletta is looking forward to serving and supporting families through their difficult time of grief and loss.  Carletta and Lafayette have one beautiful daughter, Carsyn Marie
